Seriously, you should be practicing your calculator skills just like you practice quant problems, because you will probably spend more time using your calculator than you do solving combinatorics problems on the exam.Īlso, I recommend preemptively getting a fresh sheet of scratch paper during breaks. Lesson learned here: get proficient, not just familiar, with the calculator. I did not notice a significant difference in difficulty between the 3 Quant sections I took, but I have never been able to tell with the practice exams either. There were also a few problems testing things I did not expect on the GRE and had to figure out formulas for (this may have been the experimental section, though).

(I used my calculator more during the test than I used in both the original PowerPreps combined.) I felt that I knew how to do all the problems, but was rushed in calculating the answers. Calculating things is one of my weaknesses, and I think I would have done better with conceptually harder questions with less calculation. It wasn't harder per se, but it felt more calculation-heavy.

After taking the GRE, I felt that the Quant WAS different than the PowerPrep and PowerPrep Plus (which I found on a Chinese website, so take this with a grain of salt) questions.

Impressions of overall exam and lessons learned: PowerPrep Plus: 170 V, 167 Q (took on a Chinese website, so not sure if legit). Special shout out to Gregmat, Scott, Vince Kotchian, and all the people who answered my panicked questions over the last few days.

And on the plus side, I'm done! Hopefully I am done with standardized tests for LIFE! :) I'm happy to answer any questions, since this sub was so helpful. I'm applying to statistics Masters programs, and my score is borderline (I would have liked to be 90% percentile at least!) Oh well, I'm not paying $205 to go through this ordeal again. I am frankly disappointed in my quant score. Most of the exams are 50-75% PowerPrep Plus questions, rest filler (that's how they get so many exams out of each test). I can read Chinese so I didn't have too much trouble navigating, but Google translate should do the trick. I just took the GRE and got 165 Q, 170 V.ĮDIT: I just did some digging and the free PowerPrep Plus questions I found are legit (compare against these solutions ).
